John R. Wendt was active in New York City from the late 1850's until the early 1870's. His flatware is usually marked "Sterling Patent" or "925 Patent", these are often accompanied by a retailer's mark such as Ball, Black & Co. or Starr & Marcus. Wendt's own maker's mark is rarely seen on his holloware, and does not appear on his flatware.
