AUSTRO HUNGARIAN silver brooch hallmark

Post by howard9877 »

Hi everyone, I recently received an Austro-Hungarian brooch, but I can’t find where this hallmark comes from?
I wonder if this is a branch? feather? leaf?
If you have any clues, please let me know. I would be very grateful.

P is for Pest (Budapest) Hungary. It was used as secondary mark (e.g. on finials) but also as the only mark due to limited area to apply marks. Seen on chains, too.
Oak leaf is partially struck and looks like Czechoslovakia mark for old items (unless there was a Hungarian silversmith with similar mark working in Budapest).
