Coffin teaspoon marked JT ?

Post by samtron76df »

Recently acquired a set of coffin teaspoons marked JT and can't locate this mark. Would anyone know who this maker is? My library is limited and can't find it online. Any info appreciated. Tks.

Winterthur has a similar coffin spoon with this mark recorded as unknown maker. There is some speculation that it may be Jonathan Trott Jr. working in New London CT c. 1800-1813.

Thank you WEV. I had looked at Winterthur but did not see this -- and went back and tried another link to get into their digital collections -- and there it was. I was hoping it might be Trott and there are a few people with the JT initials (researched at your site) working around the time period that it could be. Thank you for taking the time to help...
