Post by blitzbrdr66 »

I have searched all over the web and cannot locate who the maker is for the wood handled sterling silver toddy ladle, circa year 1720.[file:///C:/Users/micha/Downloads/IMG_1647.jpg]

GO is James Goodwin, this mark registered in 1710. The ladle is Britannia standard silver which accounts for the mark comprising the first two letters of the silversmith's name.

Hi,

The '2=12' would indicate the original scratch weight of the silver (2 ounces and 12 pennyweights; there are 20 pennyweights in a Troy ounce).
