HORSENS SØLVVAREFABRIK Denmark.
Denmark has a number of outstanding, renowned jewelers and jewelry' companies. At the same time, there have been many who have unfortunately been forgotten. Horsens Sølvvarefabrik is one that few people remember.
Horsens Sølvvarefabrik was established in Horsens, Denmark, in 1904. It is a town in East Jutland with just over 50,000 inhabitants. The company was founded by the brothers Winter and Sofus Sørensen. The former brother was manager of the factory, while the other was responsible for sales. After they died in 1932 and 1944, the operation was taken over by one of the sons and a son-in-law. Around the same time, the company was one of the country's largest producers of silverware.
Who drew what in this product catalog is unfortunately unknown. It is otherwise not clear who designed for Horsens Sølvvarefabrik, but Knud Møller's name appears among the cutlery designers.
In 1984, the company was acquired by Cohr Sølvvarefabrik. But it soon became clear that Cohr did not have the necessary financial muscle. The rights to the company's models were later transferred by the Swedish manufacturer Gense.https://www.matslinder.no/2022/03/03/ho ... ktkatalog/
An internet search of Horsens Sølvvarefabrik or W. & S. Sørensen silver items shows cutlery sets /cocktail equipment/ice tongs, serving spoons, letter openers, jewelry sets, arm rings, etc. However, I can find no candlesticks nor candelabra. Could this art deco candelabra by Horsens Sølvvarefabrik a one-off version upon request? Can anyone give me more information?
Peter.
