Chinese? Silver Vase

Post by nikka0202 »

Hello,
I have this vase and believe that it is Chinese, however I am unsure.
Any help with the mark would be greatly appreciated! Apologies if the mark is not oriented the right way!
Thank you in advance,
Victoria

Hi Victoria, I believe it indeed to be Chinese characters. The first mark not clear to me and I believe it lacks the Chinese characters for silver . Perhaps common Chinese expressions, Honor, Love and Long Live 寿
The 2nd mark top character for fine and bottom character for pure. However I stand to be corrected, let us wait for further replies.

It's a newly made fake. The mark of "文煒記" can be found on many CES with a shop mark of Luen Wo or others, but this one is clearly not an antique.

Perhaps a belated rseponse but I don't understand why someone is say the mark "文煒記" is "fake"!
WEN WEI JI 文煒記 [jyutping MAN WAI GEI][taishanhua MUN UI KEE][hakka VUN VI GI] CANTON & HONG KONG - a Canton and Hong Kong-based artisan workshop that made copious amounts of decorative silver for the following retailers:
CHONG WOO 常胡 [pinyin CHANG HU][jyutping SOENG WU[hakka SONG FU][hokkien SIONG HO] HONG KONG [see CHEONG WO]

HUNG CHONG & COMPANY 鴻昌公司 [aka HUNG SHING] [pinyin HONG CHANG GONGSI][jyutping HUNG COENG GUNGSI][shanghaihua HHON TSHAAN KONSY] SHANGHAI

KC/KONG CHAN 江曾 [pinyin JIANG ZENG][jyutping GONG ZANG][hakka KONG CCHEN][hokkien KANG CHAN] HONG KONG

KWAN WO 關和 [pinyin GUAN HE][jyutping GWAAN WO][hakka GUAN FO][hokkien KOAN HO] CANTON & HONG KONG

LUEN WO 欒和 [pinyin LUAN HE][jyutping LUEN WO][hokkien LOAN HO][shanghaihua LWAN HHU] SHANGHAI & CANTON

TUCK CHANG & COMPANY 德样公司 [pinyin DE XIANG GONGSI][jyutping DAK YAN GUNGSI][shanghaihua TEK HHIAN KON SR] SHANGHAI

WANG HING 宏興 [pinyin HONG XING][jyutping WANG HING] CANTON & HONG KONG

WING FAT 永發 [pinyin YONG FA][hakka YUN FAT][hokkien ENG HOAT] CANTON & HONG KONG

WO SHING/WS 和盛 [pinyin HE SHENG][jyutping WO SHING][shanghaihua HHU ZEN] SHANGHAI

The workshop also sold item directly from the workshop itself [a common practice] with just its own mark
