Egypt Purity Hallmarks

Post by Aguest »

::::: So Egyptian hallmarks have 3 squares which represent silver purity, the city, and the date. ::::::
::::: The problem is that I cannot find the different hallmarks which represent 700, 800 and 900 fineness in the 20th century. :::::
::::: If someone could help me here it would be greatly appreciated, I can't find the different symbols which represent the different silver standards ::::

No images for 700, but Silverport mentioned 600 also exists: https://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopi ... 700#p50172

:::::: I see them now, thank you for your help, I'm researching an Egyptian Silver Tray but I couldn't find any resource that showed the hallmarks for 800 purity vs. 900 purity, I'm looking at the Egyptian Hallmark page over and over again and I just didn't see these 2 hallmarks side-by-side such that I could know what 800 purity and 900 purity looked like. :::::

::::: With certainty I am still not sure about the 700 silver fineness and the 600 silver fineness, although I did see these hallmarks mentioned. :::::

::::: The vast majority of 20th century Egypt silver will be either 800 or 900 silver fineness, so just in case someone is buying something like a large tray, it will be really helpful to see both the 800 and the 900 silver fineness hallmarks for the 20th century side-by-side. :::::::

The question mark (?) indicates where on the mark to look for the identifier of the name of the Egyptian assay office where the item was hallmarked.
