LEVINE, Simon (Grimwade p.400)

9th January 1777 and 25th June 1778 Simon Levine entered marks as bucklemaker at 11, Gun Yard, Houndsditch.

It appears that by 1782 he was making parts for watches .

City of London Sessions: Sessions Papers - Justices' Working Documents 3rd December 1782
The Examination of Benjamin Solomons ,
Who saith, that he is about twenty Five Years of Age, and never was are Apprentice, that his constant Employ to the present Period, has been furnishing Watchmakers in the County with the Materials for Watches.
Says, that he first went to Reading, and supplied the Watchmakers there then he went to Bristol
and staid there about a Fortnigh then lodged at Gloucester at the Curriers Arms Mr Badnage's in the High Street
he then went to Ross and Hereford
Says, that Mr Shaw in the Rope Walk , Old Street , is his Spring Maker, Mr Bilby, Pendent Maker, in Bunhill Row, that the small Materials, he buys of Simon Levine, of Gun Square, Hounsditch.
