Teapot Maker and Year Made?

Post by AGHEAD »

Trying to determine maker and year. There is no clear duty mark but the marks are pretty worn. I', clueless to the maker but the first letter appears to be a W. Any help would be appreciated.

Seems to me it would be Wiliam Gould, London, 1742.

The finial is interesting to me.

That's the only maker I could come up with too, I suppose the makers mark could be rubbed as the top part seems absent, and of course you can't make out the G. The finial doesn't seem right to me, as if might have been a replacement. But then when you take it off you can see its is specifically made and fitted to this teapot with original sterling wing nut and a pin that goes into the teapot to keep it from swiveling.
