Need Help With a Pocket Watch Please URGENT

Hi all,
I have a pocket watch that i have no idea on any details other than it has some hall marks on the back. i have figured the silver one and the Chester but the other two i cannot. can you help please the maker stamp is W & F and the date stamp is an E that kind of looks like a back to from 3 in a square with rounded edges. it also has the number 23002 stamped on it too, sorry i dont know how to add photo's

Hi Nikki,

Well done with the images.

The casemaker was Ward & Francis (Alfred Ward and William Francis) of 39, Croft Road, Coventry. The case was assayed at Chester in 1905.

so what are the 2 stamps on the front?
i find this sort of stuff very interesting and wish i had the time to get deeper into this area!

The first is the Lion Passant, indicating the silver standard of 925/1000 (Sterling). The second is the date letter 'f' (also 1905) struck by the Birmingham Assay Office. This would appear to indicate that the watch is a marriage of parts.

Or they had that part of the watch assayed in Birmingham, as there mark was registered there as well.

No, I don't believe that would be possible. The pendant is a possible detachable part and that is why it has only been applied with partial marks, the maker's mark would have been struck on the original case.
