Re: Fraget candlestick

Dear Blakstone!
Thank you for your answer!
This is comforting. I've never seen it like this before. For example, I have only seen the inscription Varsovie in flowing writing.
Best regards!

Fraget candlestick

Dear everybody! I bought a pair of candlesticks. I tested, it is silver, but unfortunately I've never seen this mark before. I think I know the maker, Jósef Fraget from Warsawa (as the hallmark shows too) but very unusual. I know, but I know too that this part of Poland was under russian rule from 1...

Re: 18t Century Saltcellar, German?

I bet it is 12 for the fineness.
In German-speaking countries, Poland, and Hungary, the fineness was expressed in lot. mostly 12 or 13.

The year is obviously 1787.
I agree with solo, the town could be Zaleszczyki,
I don't have any sources about Galician goldsmiths.

Dear Qrt.S!
I checked the page you mentioned.
I guess you are wrong if you think this silver box made between 1866-1921

Re: Austrian-Hungarian? fruit bowl

Merry Xmas to you too!
Steve is right, the item has nothing to do with Austria, it was made in Hungary between 1937-1966.
Unfortunately cannot see, what letters are in the triangle.
Maybe with some better pictures.
Best regards!

Re: Germany, Hungary, ex russian city. or fantasy marks?

It would be a very unusual solution to use a mixture of Arabic and Latin numbers, and this wouldn't explain why XXX is lower then the others and why the number 82 is at the end. Or if 1638 as you think, why the 2 at the and.

The halmarks are illegible. Agree with theo, need better photos.
On the other hand, the year is 1682.

He was a good maker. When he died, his contemporaries said goodbye to him in a 3-page obituary in the professional newspaper.
His objects occasionally appear at auctions in Budapest.

Re: Is this an Austrian box,Maker? Mark?

Hello!
The makers from Pest can't be found among the Austrian makers, unless they had workshops in Pest and Vienna.
Your maker is Wisinger Mór (1860-1925) (Works from 1887)
In 1922/23 was hiw workshop in Budapest, Kristóf tér (square) 2.
