Hi,
I have these earrings with hallmark HANDARBEIT 835, plus unknown mark, something like Kn, with a dot under K. I learned from this site it's German post 1886, but what the other mark stands for? Also, what the stones might be regarding the period? They are very shiny. Thank you,
Olya

literally, HANDARBEIT means handwork arbeit=work i.e. hand made

re the stones, without a clear large photo one can't even begin to guess - and even with a pic like that it would remain a guess.

Byron and Kerangoumar,
thank you for your time. I still wander about the exact period and possible designer. Also, I find clips very unusual. What do you think? Re stones, is this picture of any help? Thanks again,

Olya

Sad to say the picture does not help in identifying the stones.

Even if you posted an enormous picture, it still would be guesswork. Here's why:

they are small

the stones look white (clear) and there are dozens of white gemstones, clear quartz, glass, and other simulations and imitations.

they are in an apparently closed backing - that cuts out one's ability to gather info on them.

they are in your hands, not ours.

However, a jeweller will be able to tell you; if you ask, s/he might even examine them and tell you gratis, as opposed to charging you.

Good luck

Hi Olya, Hi Byron, you are longing for some good answer I see, I only can tell, for me it looks a very fine handiwork, never saw a clip worked like this, the hallmark doesnt tell very much either, "Handarbeit" means as you know already made by hand, no industria product, probably existing in some rare items. Makers mark doesnt tell me anything for the moment, but you should do a precise photo and ask for an answer with "Schmuckmuseum in Pforzheim, Germany", there are the real specialists...As its german, it could from Germany as well Austria or Switzerland.
The other question: since when "clips " are used? Late 1940ies? This one is a very special one for sure, high quality!
Best regards wolfgang

Wolfgang,
I appreciate your help so much, vielen Dank! I bought these earrings for their beauty and for my pleasure, but it’s nice to know the background, so I’ll follow your direction.

By the way, I spent some nice time on this site, thank you Tom, well done!
