Hi. Never had any need to look at a hallmark before, This is quite fascinating (but seriously confusing) isn't it. I am an amateur watch maker, until now focussing on 1950+ wristwatches. I have now aquired a vintage pocket watche in need of restoration, looks like it is going to be a fun project. For my own interest I would like to date this timepeice, from a movement point of view I would say it is 100-150 years old. From information garnered here This is my first shot at hallmark deciphering, some of the symbols and fonts look pretty similar.

A good possibility for the case manufacturer is James Richardson.
He entered his JR in an oval mark in Chester on October 2, 1876.
