Hanau, Germany, Dec. 17,1897. After eleven months' struggling the strike of the diamond workers came to an end at their own request,which means that the manufacturers have won. It was a game fight for the polishers, although they received financial assistance from the workmen in Amsterdam and Antwerp. Herman Straus, one of the manufacturers, objected to re-employing union men and asked them for their resignations, but he did not meet with success. We may have another large diamond polishing factory in operation by January.
