Manufacturer of coral and other jewellery. Founded in 1855 by Giovanni Ascione (1834-1908), they were winners of the gold medal at the International Exhibition held at Oporto in 1865, and the bronze medal at the Vienna Exhibition in 1873. In 1875 they were appointed suppliers to the Italian royal family, permitting them to add the Savoia coat of arms to their trade mark. In 1876 they displayed their wares at the Philadelphia Exhibition, and that same year opened a branch in New York run by Giovanni's son, Domenico. The end of the 19th century saw the firm open up premises in the elegant district of Riviera di Chiaia in Naples.
The 20th century brought about the opening of their new factory at the Piazza Santa Croce, and it is still their home today. Following the death of Giavanni Ascione in 1908, the management of the company was in the hands of Giuseppe Ascione, and later passed to his son, Giovanni. Since the 1980's the business has been in the control of Giavanni's children, Giuseppe, Mauro, Caterina, Marco, and Giancarlo Ascione.
