Identification of Hallmark on Sterling Silver & Gem Brac

Post by njingalls »

Hi,
I am trying to identifying the hallmark on a sterling silver and gem stone bracelet I obtained at an estate sale recently. I have been trying to research this hallmark to no avail. Hoping that someone can identify the maker and country or origin! Please see the pictures attached.
Thanks, Nancy

Hello

Your bracelet is a combination of sterling silver and gold-filled metal in the gold tone sections. It says "1/20 12k" which means that in the gold toned sections there is 1/20th of 12/24ths of gold in the metal, in other words, 1/20 x 1/2 or 1/40 of the total. Compare this to 18 karat which means 18/24ths, or 3/4 gold. I'm thinking the bracelet is from the 1950s. give or take a couple of years; the stone is synthetic spinel probably coloured with cobalt. Sorry I can't help you with the marks.
