The medal, here reproduced in its actual size, was struck as a souvenir of the King’s visit to the Norwich Agricultural Show, arranged for June 28. It was designed and made by Messrs. Mappin and Webb, of 158, Oxford Street, W., 2, Queen Victoria Street, E.C., and 220, Regent Street, W.

In its report for the past year Mappin & Webb, the British jewelry, gold and silversmiths’ company, says it is well equipped to finance any new extension likely to be contemplated. The year under review was successful with business at home and abroad expanding steadily. The increased output of plate, cutlery and silverware was directed mostly to the export market or for reconditioning ships of the liner companies. Given reasonable freedom the company looks for continued development. The dividend of 12½ per cent against ten per cent the previous year comes from earnings of nearly 70 per cent, leaving $400,000 for general reserve which now stands at $1,200,000. Current assets, $5,345,000.

Challenge Shield of the Royal Fusiliers. — Messrs. Mappin Bros, have recently had on view the challenge shield presented by Sir Daniel Lyons, K.C.B., and officers of the Volunteer Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment). In outline it is heart-shaped, the low upper member being brought to an upward point, thus forming a kind of old English shield. The English rose, crown, arid motto of the garter, the arms of the regiment, form the centre, on the side of which stand an officer and private of the Royal Fusiliers. It is mounted upon an oak shield.
