I am hunting for information on a mark

Post by finditforu »

The pin is sterling and has the 925 it is a turtle pin/brooch that is articulated. It has emeralds, sapphires and rubies on it. I have been trying to figure out the maker and age.

I will post some pics but the mark seems to be either a ND or NO

I have one brooch and I have seen one other just like it and they didnt know anything about it either.

I found some mention a mark being Norwiegian? But how would I know for sure. and if it doesnt have anything but the two letters and the 925 how will I know the age or time frame it was made.

I guess I just need some ideas on how to research with so little to go on.

There is a section on Norwegian marks on this very website; you could start looking there.

But it showed those marks the NO or ND had other initials with them to denote certain makers. Is it ever possible to have just the 2 letters and the 925 and nothing else?

I was wondering if there is a way to tell the age? I know that it isnt vintage but just figured if there is a way to estimate the age it may give me more avenues to search

The person that has the other brooch thought it was plat plated but I am sure that it would be marked that if that were so. I have looked with a 10X loupe and didnt see any other marks.
