Amston Silver Co. was founded circa 1910. The firm continued manufacturing under this name after it became a division of the Ellmore Silver Co. about 1940. Ellmore also acquired the F. M. Whiting and Concord silver companies at this period and began marking a number of the older F. M. Whiting patterns with the Amston trademark, as well as creating new patterns under the Amston brand. Ellmore's flatware production ended with its closure around 1960.
