Chatelaine

I just recently bought this chatelaine, it clips onto your belt and has chains holding a mirror, perfume bottle and a long skinny cylinder, I believe it was made either late 1800's or early 1900's.
The marking on it is like a bowl upside down with three mountain like shapes inside, they are black and the centre mountain like shape is taller than the two outside ones - they are all joined together at the base of the mountains (?)
Can anyone tell me anything about this marking.
I don't know what it is made of, looks like gold but have been told it isn't and it is covered with fine dragons and Japanese/Chinese style art
