A lovely silver tankard

Postby Justin Bowater » Thu Jul 05, 2007 5:35 pm

I wonder if you can help me with this one, the Hallmarks I believe are as follows:

Assay: London - Lion passant and leopard

Date: L with sovereign head 1846?

Maker : JA & GA - haven't a clue!

It is a lovely tankard with what appears to be birds of prey and exotic birds engraved, thrown in with a hunting scene!

Thanks

Very nice indeed!

The makes are John & George Angell also known as John Angell & Son. They worked together from 1840 until the father's death in 1850.
