John Delmestre?

Postby carling » Thu Jun 28, 2007 10:43 am

I came acrosss this little patch box the other day. Can anyone confirm that the mark is that of John Delmestre? Also does anyone have any information to share about this silversmith?

Carling

l must admit looking at Grimwades mark no 3630. it does look very similar, especially with the large pellet, as for any info only (Grimwades) "Mark entered as largeworker 12 May 1755, address Court Street opposite Whitechapel Mount,Heal records him as a plateworker, Whitechapel till 1760. Evans lists him as a Huguenot "

As he was a Huguenot, in my book makes him ok :-)
