British silverplate letter opener

Postby mgnewman1 » Sat Jun 16, 2007 5:44 pm

Could anyone help me identify the manufacturer of this item? ith mark is "EP", with 4 other plate marks

My apologies for the poor quality of the photos

Hi Mark,
It may be a letter opener now but when it started life it was a meat skewer.
I can't make out the marks clearly but it may be that of J. Prime of Sheffield but I cannot be sure from this photograph,
Regards Trev.

Fortunately, my son is marrying a girl with extensive photo experience. Here is a MUCH better photo of the marks:

Anybody have any ideas?

The EP stands for ElectroPlated which means the meat skewer is silverplated.
Looks like British marks to me.
Checked my books, but could not find that set of marks.

Pat.
