Need help identifying maker's mark on beaker

Postby dinkum1017 » Fri Jun 01, 2007 1:05 pm

Goodday. I believe I have been able to identify the date of the beaker as 1872 and that it is sterling silver (london). I have, however, after a great deal of research been unable to identify the maker's mark. The letters are in the form of a cross: From top to bottom: JBJ and from side to side: EB (illegible) although I believe it is a "W".

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks, Michelle

Hi,
That's John, Edward, Walter & John Barnard. Mark registered in 1868, the Barnard family is silversmithing dynasty. Founded by Edward I in the 1780s and still in business today as Edward Barnard & Sons Ltd.
Regards, Tom

Thank you. I had considered them; however, the marks I found were set up differently. I appreciate your input very much.
