elkington and co, minature trophy

I have recently bought a minature double handled trophy cup, marked E & Co ltd, with the lion passant, the leopards head for london and the date letter for 1905 (k). my question is: i thought elkington and co were from birmingham, so why does it have a London assay mark?

It was a big firm and had workshops in London, Birmingham, Sheffield, Chester and Dublin.
