help identifying hallmark RD within two wings

Postby buffed_silver » Sat May 19, 2007 4:10 pm

Hello:
I have a small creamer marked McAuliffe & Hadley Sterling RD(within a pair of outstretched wings) 421. I have found some reference to McAuliffe & Hadley on the net and I think it is Boston Co., most likely a retailer. I have searched to no avail for the RD hallmark. Can anyone help? I am assuming that this is American and most likely dates to the first quarter of the 1900s.

That is one of the marks used by the Richard Dimes Company, South Boston, Massachusetts.
In business from 1908 to 1955.
