Gilt Bowl Mustard Spoon

I have a Mustard Spoon which is 4.5 inches long and has a gilt bowl. The mark on the rear of the spoon handle doesn't make sense to me and I don't believe it is Silver Plated. It discolours in the same way as a conventional Sterling SIlver spoon and is a high quality manufactured article. The photographs show the spoon and the handle design and the reverse of the handle shows the mark. The Makers Mark is "MH & C." in the Shield and the octagonal recesses read "A " : "1" :"C" : "P". Any help in finding the Maker and verifying the Mark as either Silver or Silver Plate would be appreciated.

Your spoon is silver plated, the letters are A1 the quality, EP electro plate and the makers mark is I believe Martin Hall and Co. of Sheffield, hope this helps,

Thanks very much for the information Trev. To say I was disappointed is an understatement - I really thought I had found a sterling silver article. I didn't expect to see a gilt bowl and such good quality in a sliver plated job.
