I have been on the site many times and have finally worked up
the courage to post a message. It took me about 2 months to
find and ID the hallmark on these Gorham sterling spoons and
another month or so to identify the pattern.
Now I am wondering what the 'S' to the left of the mark and the
calligraphy 'M' or symbol to the right of the mark signify. Hoping
someone here can enlighten me. :)
The pattern is Engraved Marguerite. The spoons are 8 & 3/8th's
inches long - tablespoons.
Here is the mark:

If anyone can tell me what the 'S' and the 'M'/symbol mean, I would
appreciate it very much.
Also, is this engraved pattern considered "brite cut"?
Am I correct in my iterpretation, that this hallmark was used
approximately 1870's - 1900?
Thankyou so much for taking the time to look at my post and
help if you can.
