Help with identifying maker :0)

Postby SusanWhite » Fri Mar 16, 2007 2:24 pm

Hello, Everybody!

Have an olive spoon with a maker's mark I can't identify. I've checked several sources with no success.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,
Susan

It's the Tudor pattern, introduced in 1900 by A.F. Towle & Sons, taken over in 1902 by Rogers, Lunt & Bowlen (Lunt Silversmiths) and also produced with their marks.

Dear Cheryl,

This whole process of learning to read the marks really reminds me of that old story about Columbus and the Indians ... how the Indians couldn't "see" Columbus' ships because they'd never seen ships like his before and it took an old Shaman studying and meditating on the water for days to "see" the ships ... lol ... I feel the same way. I look and look, but can't make any sense out of what I'm seeing until someone on these forums says: "this is so and so's mark" and I go and look again ... and lo and behold, I can "see" it now myself!! ;0)

Anyway, I surely do appreciate you and everyone on these forums for the help!

Sincerely,
Susan
