Par Plate

Postby Margo Weathers » Sun Mar 11, 2007 8:01 am

I have a set of demitasse spoons in a leather case that appear to be rather old and there are no marks anywhere on them except for "Par Plate". What the heck is par plate and why aren't there any other 'marks'? The case does not have any label or anything on it so how would it be possible to find out where these came from, age, etc.? I'm a newbie and I'm sure you can tell...thanks!

Par Plate and Community were silverplate trademarks of Oneida.

I'm new at this and I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer- that's quite obvious. Folks like myself are dependent upon nice folks like you to answer 'stupid' questions. I'm a stupid person so I always have a lot of stupid questions! I'm trying... thanks!

Hi Margo.
Those are not stupid questions. No one person has all the answers about silver marks. For example, I'd be lost dealing with European continental marks like France. That's the great thing about this forum, we have people visit here from all over the world that help out.

One sugestion I would make to you is try to learn how to post pictures here. How to Add Images
You will get a lot more help if you have pictures.

Best wishes,
Pat.
