Silver wedding? Cup. Country, Maker? Period?

Post by Vantlicht »

I bought this silver cup as that it is Swedish. However I have no books about Swedish silversmiths and I have no idea if Sweden is correct. Could somebody help me to determine this cup? Thanks in advance!

:::::: If that is the Swedish import mark then you might be looking for another country such as Germany :::::::
:::::: Wonder what the "U" means? :::::::::::::

It’s Stockholm and the maker is Gustaf Henning (1731-57). U is for 1756 in Stockholm. Sweden started the year letter series for the whole country in 1759 but some major towns had their own year letter systems before that usually combined with zigzag line.
