Stories of Hip Hop
Until 29th June 2025
Originating in the USA, the hip hop culture is a phenomenon that has spread all over the world since the 1970s. It has influenced generations of young people, and the hip hop lingo is understood and used by many across diverse cultural contexts. A distinctive feature of the protagonists is their conspicuous, oversized jewellery that is lavishly encrusted with diamonds. Music, graffiti and rap are just as important as the flashy jewellery and the matching outfits. The exhibition, linking all this through stories, extends throughout the entire Reuchlinhaus and will even display a street scene from a hip hop film as a backdrop.
Following the motto of 'Pforzheim Design Meets Hip Hop', a collaboration with the School of Design at Pforzheim University has been initiated. Students from the fashion, jewellery, and accessories design courses are creating one-of-a-kind pieces for hip hoppers chosen by them, such as Bush.ida or Finna.
Opening hours: Tuesdays to Sundays and holidays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Admission: €10
