Bolo Tie Origins and Composition

Post by aks62 »

I got this bolo tie at a yard sale, thinking it was sterling silver. There’s no stamp, so I’m no longer sure.

There’s only a mark in the top left on the back, which I couldn’t pin down but most closely resembles that of Dorothy Kyasyousie, among those I found. The bolo also looks Hopi to me, but I couldn’t find any indication that Dorothy has made bolos before. That, and the clasp stamp - if it’s not been repurposed - would appear to indicate a bolo between 40-60 years old, but she only began crafting in 1994.

Any leads are appreciated - I’d love to know what I have here.

Believe this is a French source database (hopefully not a commercial link) where that mark is recorded as W2 in the Unknowns section of the “W” listings: https://art-amerindien.com/hallmarks/w- ... -marks.htm
