Gold powder box, gold marks. French?

Hi, I'm trying to find out more informations regarding those two hallmarks placed on a gold powder box. The enameling suggests something around 1850 (could be later or earlier). Some say it might even be a box made in the late 18th century (1795ca). Personally I'm more towards 1870. Are the marks french?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Hi, welcome to the forum. In the book Gold stempel aus aller Welt by Jan Diviš, I can not find a correct match with the marks on your box. To me it appears the marks pretend to look like a boars or dogs head facing left and a eagle head erased facing right. Have you tested the gold content? Perhaps the marks on your box are pseudo marks, used around 1905? I could be mistaken, let us wait for further reactions.

Peter.
