1847 rogers bros

Postby tbar68 » Thu Feb 15, 2007 10:05 pm

Have a big heavy gravy boat. The marks on the bottom read:
HER MAJESTY
1847 ROGERS BROS.
0090041

then there are two rounded rectagles with the letter I and S in them.

Any info, is it silver or plate, time period?

Thanks,
TB

1847 ROGERS BROS. was a silverplate trademark used by the International Silver Company, Meriden, Connecticut. The IS mark on your gravy boat stands for International Silver. I think they started marking products with the IS mark sometime in the late 1920's. They stopped producing holloware in 1976.
