The year letter on the small bracket, you have it upside down, is the Gothic J for 1893
Under the Minerva Head, GS in lozenge is for Gerardus Lucas Schuiten, registered in the city of Groningen 1812-died 1826. Schuiten used this lozenge mark, when we were part of the French Empire (Napoleonic period). In 1815 Schuiten registered GS in a square. As you know Schuiten made purse brackets viewtopic.php?p=215450&hilit=Gerardus+L ... 97#p215450
Questions: could it be that you overlooked some small hidden marks? Can you see any repairs or a marriage? The unclear marks are those positioned on the hook?
The unclear marks could be AS above 2 for; Adries Rienks Steltman, registered in the village of Leek, municipal Westerkwartier in province Groningen, 1859/ died1902.

Thanks Peter, I carefully checked the bracket, but cannot find more marks. So strange that it is marked by two silversmiths. The hook is also marked with the same yearletter and probably the AS2 so it belongs together.
Two maker's marks, how is that possible?
In my opinion, the silver purse bracket was made by Gerardus Lucas Schuiten, during the French occupation. These were turbulent times, the bracket was not hallmarked. Later, the un-hallmarked purse bracket may have been adjusted by another silversmith and provided with a belt hook. This silversmith offered the complete set for inspection after which it was hallmarked, including the year letter J for 1893 on bracket and belt hook.
