This Frisian ear iron is marked with a M and then a kind of a flower. I cannot find this mark in my books. So I need some help...

Thanks in advance!

Silver Ear Iron Year letter R for 1901

The maker's or responsibility mark M flower/hand fan in rectangle (?) is for; Zilversmederij J. H van der Meulen & Zn b.v. / van de Meulen Edelmet. b.v, registered in Joure, province of Friesland as silversmith and importer 1984-1997. The van der Meulen family in Joure are generations of silversmiths and importers and precious metal buyers & sellers in the past and today.

Thanks Peter, my book goes till 1963, but because it was 1901, I thought it should be in it....

Your welcome, Van der Meulen Edelmetaal since 1799, melts down returned jewelry and coins into gold, silver or platinum bars.
Perhaps, instead of melting down the ear iron made in 1901, they re-marked it with their responsibility mark and sold it.

Peter.
