Silver chain and pendant

Hi, I'm hoping someone might be able to let me know more about this silver chain and pendant I inherited from a great aunt. It has the silver hallmark of the lion passant but no city mark. The date letter may be an 'h' or a 'b'? The stone in the pendant is a very dark red - I do not know what it is either. Many thanks in advance!

It looks like a Birmingham mark with date letter h for 1882. Only a partial hallmark because the rest should be on another part of what was originally hallmarked.
I have removed the extraneous image in your first post.
