Cocktail Shaker with Christofle and Crown stamp

Post by KateNouveau »

I've got a very unusual one for you guys today, a challenge! (I think;)

I recently bought a silver plated cocktail shaker and on the base of the shaker are two stamps - one is clearly a crown, and the other is the Christofle pawn (1935-83). There is also a small round indentation above, but I'm not sure that it has any significance. No marks are on the strainer or cap. The shaker is smaller than average at 16cm tall.

I've come across cutlery with the word 'couronne' (crown) on them, which I assumed is the model name? but nothing else in this forum or on the web.
I have contacted Christofle through their website, but have not heard back yet.

I really hope someone can solve this mystery for me! Thank you for reading!

Hello all,

I have an update from Christofle! Sorry I haven't solved the mystery sooner, but health problems have taken priority.
According to Christofle customer service, the stamps show that this item is indeed made by Christofle and the crown stamp indicates that it is from the GOMBAULT DESCLERC collection. Gombault Desclerc was acquired by Halphen and then added to Christofle when they acquired Halphen. The crown mark was used between 1939 and 1960.

Here are the screenshots from my correspondence with Christofle:
