Help with German? Hanau? hallmarks...

Post by nikka0202 »

Hi,
I have a set of spoons that I believe are German and silver, however I cannot find the marks and wonder if they might be Hanau marks.
Any help or insight is appreciated!
Thank you,
Victoria

Hello Humbert and Son were Berlin jewellers of French origin, active in Berlin 1763-1894. Most likely they did not actually made this, but just sold it. The mark on the left hand side could or could not be the Berlin bear, it is too worn to tell for sure. IF this was made by a Berlin silversmith, the B would be the letter of the second warden for years 1842-1847. Regards, Bahner

Something reminds me of Berlin, but the pics from the old post I'm referring to are all deleted.
