Good day
I bought this at the market today with some other silver objects. It seems to be from St Petersburg and was made in 1851. Makers mark seems like CAS between stars. Any help will be welcome

1851 Teaspoon from St Petersburg
Re: 1851 Teaspoon from St Petersburg
The maker CAS is a Finn by the name of Carl Adolf Seipel, born 17.8.1820 and dead 20.2.1891. He was active in ST. Petersburg 1846-1891. He moved as a journeyman from Lovisa to Viborg in Finland 1841 and continued his journey to St. Peterburg in Russia in 1844 where he became master in 1846.

Thank you very much. I was not certain of the town mark. I first thought St Petersburg and then Moscow. Bug now I know my first guess was correct.Qrt.S wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 8:56 am The maker CAS is a Finn by the name of Carl Adolf Seipel, born 17.8.1820 and dead 20.2.1891. He was active in ST. My pleasure. But Moscow!? Moscow's coat of arms is riding St. George while St. Petersburg's coat of arms is an anchor, a scepter and a grapnel crossed.

Thanks for sharing these pictures. I need to get it to a proper jeweler to get the bowl fixed and the whole stem straightened out again. It is a little twisted.Silverstone wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 1:39 pm Hi Jannie,
you have bought a spoon from Carl Adolf Seipel - a silversmith who is known for his excellent craftsmanship.
Note this hallmark "CAS" for further "discoveries".
Here's the proof:
