"...INGS" partial mark

Post by AllSeasons »

I need the forum's help again to decipher this mark. It's very worn and is only partially visible, so I don't know if it would be possible. But in any case, here it is. The first part has been polished off, and the last letters I believe are "...INGS", but I'm not sure. Is this coin silver? If so, any thoughts on the maker based on the partial? Any insight would be appreciated.

The image is below. Thank you in advance.

Just a thought; the name may be Hastings.

:::: It could be Benjamin Barnabas Hastings (1809-1882) based on the style of the "G" and the "S" but let's wait for confirmation :::::
:::: Whoever has the piece in hand, what do the letters look like to you? ::::

Thank you for all the replies. I don't have the item yet, but will post a picture if I'm able to get it. But sounds like it should be coin silver, though?

Cheers!

I wouldn't hesitate to accept it as coin silver.
