These were made both in the UK and the US since the late 19th century. They have been produced at least through the first half of the 20th century.
Checked my American and British silverplate books, but could not find that mark. You mention it was found in Canada. I also checked my Canadian references, but no luck there either. There was an Acme Silver Company (1885-1895) in Toronto, but I don't know if they ever used this type of mark.

Regards,
Pat.
