S & S Sterling mark

Postby CAC59601 » Fri Apr 15, 2022 2:45 pm

I have a sterling silver box with a makers mark of “S & S Sterling 2” on the bottom. The S & S is the top line. Sterling is below it and the number 2 is on a third line under sterling. Can you tell me the name of the maker?

Here are two photos that I posted to Imgur. When I try to preview this message, I don’t see the images, so please let me know if you can’t either.

If you cannot see them, then neither can we.

Rainwater/Redfield (4th) has this form of mark down for Smith & Smith of Attleboro Mass., later part of Wallace Silversmiths. Sterling cigar boxes and novelties were known products. Do you have measurements?

Many thanks to the person who made my photos visible, and to person who has provided information on the maker. I appreciate it.

The dimensions of the box in inches is 6 1/4, by 3 1/4, by 1 5/8. It is lined in wood which I assume is cedar.
