Help with mark identification

Postby Cbuddie » Mon Dec 06, 2021 8:20 pm

My late uncle gave me this antique bowl about 10 years ago. it is special to me. I wanted to find out more about it.
Any ideas based on the makers marks or design?

A Chinese friend of mine is thinking it might be Japanese.. Meiji period? But maybe Chinese?

What do you all think? Note, I searched forum and didn’t find anything with “MK” so hopefully I didn’t miss anything

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

There was a 'MK' silversmith working in Canton c.1860 - 1910, who was noted for his high quality pieces, and especially for creating ceremonial objects. Unfortunately his name has not been documented.

Your bowl appears to be a quality item, but it is difficult to say as your images are so small.

Trev.
