Postby mofuller68 » Sun Dec 10, 2006 2:45 pm

I have a set of older silverplate flat ware with bone or ivory handles in the cloth lined box this has been in the family for years but now it is mine and i would like to know more about it. they all have a mark on the back of i believe F D A S A1 each letter is in it's own box ans is the A 1. I do know it is silver plate but i can not find this mark? any help? out there. thank you Maureen

Hello Maureen, I can't find that set of marks in my silverplate books. Sounds like a British silverplate mark. If you could manage to post a picture of the marks we might be able to help.

Great job on the pictures.
The first letter looks like a C or E to me. I checked my books, but sorry to say could not match it to a manufacturer.

I believe that's EPNS for electroplated nickel silver. The piece does not seem to have a maker's trademark.
