14 loth? Help!

Postby Niel » Tue Sep 14, 2021 6:27 pm

This week i buy in internet a silver tea set, the seller sell it as plated, but i think this is solid silver, maybe austrian or german. They have a mark 14 and D.Agnelli. Someone already see this mark? Help me, please.

Hi Niel, welcome to the forum. Please have your images embedded see:

Are all the items of the set marked the same D.Agnelli 14?
Why not have it tested for the silver content, to make sure? The number 14 could be design/inventory number or indeed for 14 lot?

Hi Niel
The name sounds Italian to me,does not look like 14 loth mark, may be makers number, just a guess.

Link removed, please read the forum rules
I find this coffee set in the same style and marked as 13 loth silver. And if you search in google for biedermeier silver tea set you can find some of very similar decoration, but must 13 loth silver...

Hi,
Typical late Biedermeier style (neo baroque), mid 19th century and later.
Unsupported assumption of 14 Loth with typical Italian maker`s name.
Test the fineness if possible.

Can't be a italian working in germany or austria? the style is correct for 14 loth area. I say this cause here in Brazil we have on 19th century the Farani brothers, italians who become jeweler from brazilian imperial househood (and Brazil is too far away from Italy than any another Europe region).

Hi Niel
You are confusing me,All I said in my post the" name sounds Italian" Then you mention the Farani brothers "Italians",then you go on to say can't be Italian.
and the go on about Italy, to far from Brazil, not sure if you have heard about airplanes and ships? and importation, does not mean it was made in Brazil.
My main point was the name is an Italian name.

Regards Guido.
