I have this piece for snaps. I soppose that it is from the 1700. No marks. The bottom has been fixed so a new bottom has been added on top of the old one. Doing so the mark has disappered.
My question is whether anyone knows the tree. It has been made with gold - so perhaps anyone knows where they used patterns like that.

My guess would be Swedish, where these tapering beakers were very common. If so, the tree may represent the civic arms of Lindesberg.

Hello, to me this looks like a Kiddush cup. I interpret the engraving as the burning thornbush of the Holy Bible. Best wishes, Bahner

Thanks for the reply. I have bought it in Sweden - so my gues was also that behind the new button the 4 swedish mark are hidden. I have shown it at a swedish debat page - they suggested Norway as they did not think that the tree/bush looked swedish.

I have newer heard of a Kiddush cup before - but after searching the www that migt be a possibility. Then Sweden could be origin after all. Purpose then gave this un-Swedish decoration.

Civic arms of Lindesberg also sound as a good sugestion.

Thanks again - I will bring Kiddush cup and Lindesberg up at the Swedish debate and see if that makes anyone start thinking.
