weird markings

Postby 7_characters » Tue Jan 05, 2021 11:56 am

hi, i was wondering if you could help me id these markings. sorry, not sure if this is silver or not, so then all this is off topic.
markings are on a silver-looking fork and a spoon; they were in a bunch with a few austrian alpaca bachmann/wien, so i checked for austrian then german and hungarian, no luck. the numbers are 135-51 and 216-51 / i assume if anything we care just about the 51, but i was wrong before so...
before 51 there is a very small marking maybe OC or OG but it could be 66 as well, or a faulty marking.
after 51 there is also a small marking but big enough to see a crown with 5 points / 2 in the background and a bottom band inside a pointing down triangle.
i don't have a silver tester but a hydrochloric acid that makes iron foam and smoke doesn't attack them/ but that only tells us what is not.
in the same bundle there were a few 800 forks, so it wasn't only cheap stuff.

thanks in advance. also glad to see the forum is still alive, i've checked here stuff maybe 8-9 years ago!

Hi,

As Peter has stated, we need clear, sharp images, especially so in this case, as the mark is known and contains details of purity and assay office location within it.

https://postimages.org (choose 'Share', then copy the 'Hotlink for forums' code) is recommended. Do not use Photobucket or Dropbox.

hey dognose & oel, thanks for the quick reply. those 4 pics were the clearest i could take (out of 62!) with super-macro and the frame of the lens touching. if i upgrade my camera or manage to get better light i'll try again, until then feel free to delete my posts so it won't clutter.
thanks again guys!
