Forks and knives - purpose

Postby Hose_dk » Sun Nov 19, 2006 4:35 pm

I saw the forks and knifes and sugestion of sweets.
I have this set 12 forks and 12 knives. One mark 830S and nothing more. The forks are 15 cm and the knives are 17,5 cm.
I soppose that it is silver - even when it lacks every mark but 830S
Anyone who can give me a clue of country, period etc. everything is most appresiated. They are quiet heavy 35 gram for a fork and 30 grams for a knife. And that heavy for such a small item.

Hello, no doubt that this is also for fruit / cake / sweets etc. When enhancing the pics they turn out too blurry to recognize the mark or the pattern. Could You post clearer pics ? Best wishes, Bahner

First I had the idea that it was for fish. But sweets yes more likely.
And oh yes much better pictures

Hello, the pattern is nr. 2700 by Franz Bahner, Düsseldorf. Fishforks would look different. Bahner used marks like this on pieces for export. Best wishes, Bahner (no relative, though)

Thank you for the information.
These are from a time where a lot of different purposes had its own different tool.
Thanks for the information.
